The Coming of the Polar Shift

Polar Shift

Time is catching up with us or running out.
Do we know? What we don’t know is
What will happen, as the cycle completes.
Its time for another alignment of the planets
Or realignment as the sun, moon and milky way
Line up for its multi-billion year reunion
To shake up the world once again and cause
Havoc to fall upon the earth and end life
As we know it. What does that mean?

The last polar shift changed the north pole.
It used to be in Africa, a 90 degree shift
Plant and animal life could not cope and died
New life forms were created, human life.
The dinosaur became extinct, I think.
Though some say that was caused by an asteroid
Hitting the earth and burning up all life matter
Global warming will be eclipsed in its effects
By whatever happens. The tides will turn on us

On us and over us in raging floods, washing away dry land
Toppling our buildings and structures,
Leaving the remains of our civilization underwater
To be excavated millions of years from now
By the new life forms that will take our place.
What will they find, what will they learn about our culture
And our civilization. Will our history be remembered.
Have we recorded it permanently in ways that can be read
By future civilizations. Our history is now recorded on digital media
When it is washed away, will it be able to be deciphered
As we have deciphered the carved stone walls painted with stories
Of life in ancient Egypt, Persia, Greece, Rome, China and India?
Will our monuments survive to be interpreted by future minds?
Perhaps Mount Rushmore will survive the plunder and men
From other worlds will land and puzzle about our Ancient Gods
And the meaning of stone heads carved in a mountainside.
Perhaps they will find our Ipods, cell phones, and notebooks buried in sand
with dead batteries they can no longer resuscitate or empower
And wonder what these devices meant and what purpose they served.
Perhaps by some miracle, the battery will work and they will
Intuitively push the right buttons and open up the memories of our world.
Photographs of plant life and animal life that no longer exist.
Images of people that died in the Great Catastrophe of 2012
Music they have long forgotten or never heard played on instruments
They no longer play. They will find our laser pointers and call them magic wands.
They will find manuals and think they are ancient texts with keys to the future
And learn to read our code and mysterious software languages and software bibles.
Scholars will study ancient texts and try to find meaning in our strange codes.
Hello World, Written in every software language that was ever written
and wonder at the numerous dialects and from which civilization they came.

Traces of a civilization that did not survive and perhaps is much
Different from theirs. The new life will have evolved to survive in the
Climate of the changed world. Will they be more advanced, or more primitive?
Will they have to rediscover for themselves all that our civilization has accomplished?

  1. I've wondered what future civilizations might consider something as basic and simple as brushing one's teeth. What will they think seeing a sink and faucets and a mirror? Will they have recordings of running water, brushing and gatgling, primping before a mirror? Will they consider these as tributes daily to some god, or seeing ourselve's as some god? Or might it just be personal hygiene?
